Upgrade your green beans with a few simple ingredients that you almost certainly have in your pantry!
Blistered Sesame Green Beans
Ingredients
- 1 bag green beans, washed with the ends removed, chopped into 1 to 2 inch pieces
- 1-2 tbsp avocado oil, or other neutral oil
- 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- ½ tbsp ponzu
- ½ tbsp sriracha or sambal oelek
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- flaky salt, to finish
Instructions
- Heat a cast iron skillet or wok, if you have one, over medium-high heat, then add 1-2 tablespoons of oil.
- Add the green beans to the pan, stirring to coat evenly with oil. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beans begin to blister, about 10 minutes.
- Turn the heat down to low and add the soy sauce, ponzu, water, sesame oil, sriracha, and garlic powder. Stir to coat all the green beans and cook about 3 minutes more.
- Remove the green beans from the heat and place in a serving dish. Finish with lemon zest, a pinch of flaky salt, and a generous amount of sesame seeds.
