Chunky, No-Sugar Honeycrisp Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 6 honeycrisp apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 cup water, or more if needed

Instructions

  • Peel the apples and cut into 1 inch pieces. Immediately squeeze juice from half of the lemon over the apple pieces to prevent browning.
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add the apples, cinnamon, the rest of the lemon juice, and 1/4 cup of water. Bring to a boil, stirring often, then cover and reduce the heat to medium, allowing the applesauce to cook.
  • Once all of the liquid has evaporated, smash the large pieces of apple slightly using a fork or a masher, leaving the applesauce chunky. Stir and continue cooking
